Dr. Paul Serra

Dr. Paul Serra studied dentistry at the prestigious University of Toronto, from which institution he graduated in 1999 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Previously, he graduated with distinction from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Biology. Paul enjoys all aspects of family dentistry in his day-to-day practice at Eastside Dental, where he’s now worked for nearly two decades. He is notably trained in dental implant surgery, which is a keen area of interest as he enthusiastically continues his professional education. When not in the office, Paul spends most of his time with his wife and three daughters. He enjoys travelling as a family and playing and watching golf and soccer.

Dr. Maha Mirza

Dr. Maha Mirza graduated in 1992 from the University of Baghdad College of Dentistry, where she worked for two years as a clinical instructor in Pediatric Dentistry. There, Maha was involved in treating children and supervising dental students. She also attended a graduate program in periodontology. Maha immigrated to Canada in 1996 and qualified as a dentist three years later. Since then, she has been demonstrably passionate about continuing her education. Maha has attended seminars, conferences, and other professional development programs at prestigious dental education centres in New York, Florida, Arizona, and elsewhere. Away from work, Maha enjoys travelling with her family, cooking, and reading. She and her husband – also a dentist – have two daughters, both of whom are University of Windsor students.

Dr. Christopher DiPonio

Dr. Christopher DiPonio is a graduate of the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry, where he received the Academy of Operative Dentistry Prize, the Claude Gardner Memorial Scholarship, and the Nick Cosman and Mike Wells Awards in Dentistry. As a student, Christopher developed a special interest in oral surgery, including dental implants. He completed an Oral Surgery Externship at the University of Michigan and volunteered extensively in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. A Holy Names Catholic High School product, Christopher previously studied at Western University and the University of Windsor. He is happy to have returned home to join the Eastside Dental team. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, skiing, and spending time with family.

Dr. Katy Chahine

As a board-certified periodontist in Canada and the United States, Dr. Katy Chahine specializes in placing dental implants and preventing, diagnosing, and treating inflammation and disease in the structures surrounding and supporting the teeth. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario School of Dentistry, she was accepted into the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry’s post-graduate program in Periodontology. Today, she regularly performs a full complement of in-office periodontal surgeries, including grafting and the surgical phase of implant treatment; no out-of-office referrals are necessary. Katy is a regular team member who sees patients at Eastside Dental once or twice a month. In her private life, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.

Dr. Mario DiPonio

Eastside Dental’s most experienced oral health professional, Dr. Mario DiPonio graduated from the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Dentistry in 1981. He has been a member of the Eastside Dental team since 1986. In the decades since, Mario has actively committed to continuing and furthering his education. In particular, he has completed several professional development courses in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry, including specialized education in implants and veneers. Outside of working hours, Mario is an avid golfer who also enjoys travelling and spending time with his wife and two sons. Mario’s oldest child is a successful chiropractor, and the youngest – Dr. Christopher DiPonio – has recently graduated and joined our team at Eastside Dental.
